Service Description

Returning Patients This specific acupuncture protocol is done both before and after the IUI transfer or IVF embryo transfer. Studies show that having this acupuncture protocol done before and after the transfer greatly increases the success rate. Acupuncture is a component of Traditional Chinese Medicine in which hair thin, sterile needles are strategically inserted into points around the body. Acupuncture is used to rebalance the flow of energy or “qi” in the body to alleviate pain and help restore balance. In regards to fertility, acupuncture improves circulation throughout the body and reproductive organs. Acupuncture has been shown to improve the egg quality, and regulate hormonal levels throughout the body. Acupuncture can be used at any time during the fertility process to conceive, maintain a healthy pregnancy, and promote an easy labor. Acupuncture will help thicken the uterine lining, improve ovary function, improve egg quality, regulate hormones, and boost immunity. Fertility Acupuncture typically requires 12 weeks (3 months) of consistent treatment for the body to achieve the balance necessary for the patient to become pregnant. The 3 month commitment has proven successful for both natural and IUI, IVF pregnancies. IUI - Intrauterine Insemination IVF - In Vitro Fertilization The Transfer Day: On the day of the (IVF) Embryo Transfer or (IUI) Intrauterine insemination acupuncture is done twice. There are 2 appointments done on the the transfer day. 1) 1st acupuncture session is before the transfer. Duration is about 25 to 30 minutes. This must be performed within a 2 hour window before the transfer is done. For example if your transfer is at 1pm on Monday. The earliest this acupuncture should be done is at 11am. The latest would be at 12pm noon, leaving you sufficient time to get to your transfer appointment on time. 2) 2nd acupuncture session after the transfer. Duration is about 25 to 30 minutes. This must be performed within a 2 hour window after the transfer is done. For example, if your transfer was at 1pm on Monday. The latest this acupuncture should be done is 3pm. Ideally, it should be done at 2 or 2:30pm. This appointment is available for Returning Patients. We will go over everything as you come in weekly for your fertility acupuncture appointments. We will be in touch and coordinate the appointment times with you on the transfer day, and accommodate your schedule or and any changes to the best of our ability. Thank you
